    Dear Gwendoline,
    
    I have not had much breathing room with the harvest this year. Thomas is a good fellow, but he's used to working in his father's orchard, and our business is a little different from the cider press. I think he is well trained, however, and will be a very good asset later on. We are now working on a new addition for the house, so he and Judy will have a place to stay, when they are wed in a month.
    
    I am glad to hear you have been keeping busy and making friends. Make sure to remain an asset to Mister Bondsmiller, even though his business is slowing down. I know you know how to work hard and well, Gwen.
    
    A horse is a pretty expensive investment of time and money, I hope Captain Vensyn is budgeting himself well, particularly since he has another guard to see to on his force now who is already looking to settle down as well. A man with too many financial burdens can make a poor husband.
    
    Thank you for the jam. I cannot say I have ever tasted anything like whatever that fruit was, but it made for some good eating. I would very much like to eat any other jams you create, Gwen. I miss seeing you in the kitchen, this time of the year, even though your creations were not always palatable.
    
    Everard is now courting Constance Pierce, from a farm on the other side of our county. She's a good lass, with a solid background,and he seems content enough, though he said to be sure and send you his regards. I must say I am sorely disappointed, Gwen, but you know that already.
    
    I'll probably be paying you a visit come the end of November, if all goes according to plan. You'll see to travel arrangements with your Trade Minister for me?
